Driving Safety in India's Green Hydrogen Revolution

As India accelerates its commitment towards clean energy and decarbonization, hydrogen is emerging as a key pillar of the nation's sustainable energy strategy. However, the successful deployment of hydrogen technologies requires a strong focus on safety, risk management, and engineering reliability.

Sustainwheel Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is proud to be associated with a prestigious project supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. Executed in collaboration with INDRAX Safety & Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Dr. Bansi Dhar Institute (DBDI), the project focuses on advanced hydrogen safety assessment using industry-leading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools.

Project Objective

The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance hydrogen safety capabilities through scientific analysis and advanced simulation techniques. The project evaluates potential hazards associated with hydrogen production, storage, handling, and utilization systems, enabling stakeholders to make informed engineering and operational decisions.

Advanced CFD Modelling for Hydrogen Safety

Using FLACS-Hydrogen, one of the world's leading hydrogen consequence modelling platforms, the project performs detailed simulations to assess various operational and accidental scenarios. The analysis includes: Hydrogen leak and dispersion behaviour Ventilation effectiveness studies Hydrogen jet fire modelling Thermal radiation assessment Explosion overpressure analysis Safety distance evaluation Occupied building risk assessment Impact analysis on critical infrastructure These simulations provide valuable insights into potential risks and help establish effective mitigation measures for safer hydrogen facilities.

Supporting India's Green Hydrogen Mission

Safety is fundamental to the large-scale adoption of hydrogen technologies. Through this MNRE-supported initiative, Sustainwheel Solutions is helping build the technical knowledge, engineering capabilities, and safety best practices required to support India's growing hydrogen ecosystem. This project reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence while contributing to a cleaner, safer, and more resilient energy future for the nation.
